PUBLIC ADDITIONS: Runway 1331
Description
The second-year architectural design studio focuses on designing impactful extensions to existing buildings, transforming the former COVID-19 isolation facility at Kai Tak into a vibrant cultural hub for youths. Students developed small-scale innovative interventions that enhance community engagement, cultural vitality, and site liveability. The studio emphasizes fundamental construction principles through the use of steel and encourages the creation of adaptable interventions that could be applied across various sites. Each prototype offers a model that can be adapted for different urban settings. These small-scale architectural interventions offer a versatile urban kit of parts for the future.
